C.J. Spiller, Jamaal Charles and the current state of the Chiefs running backs

The Chiefs signing of C.J. Spiller gives Kansas City some options at the bottom of the depth chart at running back.
On Friday, the Kansas City Chiefs announced the signing of C.J. Spiller, a veteran running back who has played previously for the Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints, among others.
The move for Spiller gives the Chiefs a bit more crowded backfield as they attempt to sift out the best options for the final 53-man roster. For a veteran like Spiller who has bounced around a few teams, it will be an uphill climb to make the final roster, but crazier things have happened before. Just two seasons ago, Joe McKnight was a veteran running back with the New York Jets coming off of a serious injury and hoping to make his mark once again. Despite odds stacked against him, he made the roster and even made some memorable plays for the Chiefs that season.
