The Great Eric Berry Debate: How much does the Chiefs safety deserve?

We brought together several of Arrowhead Addict staff writers for a special roundtable discussion to answer the many questions facing the Kansas City Chiefs and Eric Berry.
Eric Berry is a hero. How much do you pay one? The question remains an important one for the Kansas City Chiefs front office, led by general manager John Dorsey, because the team is in a bit of a pickle. They’re already strapped for cash. Berry has publicly said the franchise tag is not acceptable. Fans will likely revolt if Berry was seen suiting up for another team.
The situation is an interesting one considering they’ve been negotiating for a long-term deal for much longer than this offseason. Despite his heroism and leadership, Berry has also missed nearly two full seasons due to injury. He’s also the highest paid safety in the NFL, so how much further do the Chiefs go? Despite what fans might think, there’s a complexity to appreciate about the entire situation.
