Round Four: Ryan Glasgow, DT, Michigan
If Glasgow from Michigan sounds a bit familiar, then you’re likely thinking of his brother Graham, another Michigan alum who stayed in state to play for the Detroit Lions. The younger Glasgow is also the bigger project, but he’s faced an uphill climb his entire collegiate career, going from walk-on to lettering for three years and becoming Michigan’s defensive lineman of the year and a Second Team All-Big Ten selection in 2016.
In 12 games last year, Glasgow had 39 total tackles, 8.5 of them for a loss, 3 sacks and 1 pass defended at the line. He also forced 1 fumble. His reputation for being an incredibly hard worker who never stops going 100 percent gives Britt Reid another rotational body to develop along a young defensive line.
While defensive line isn’t the most pressing need and it would be nice to see an interior offensive lineman at this point in the draft, it’s also a reality that the Chiefs were forced to use veteran free agents signed late in the season at key moments, such as Kendall Reyes. Both Jaye Howard and Allen Bailey are returning from injury, which makes adding another defensive lineman a decent idea.
