Tony Romo rumors: Texans, Chiefs among favorites to land Cowboys quarterback
By Matt Conner
As the Tony Romo rumors kick into high gear, the Texans, Broncos and Chiefs are all among the favorites to land the Cowboys veteran.
Tony Romo’s days at a member of the Dallas Cowboys are numbered. The only question is whether or not he will be traded or released. The latest odds are out from sportsbook.ag and the Kansas City Chiefs are among the teams favored as the landing spot for the veteran quarterback.
Alex Smith is, of course, the incumbent starter and remains the favorite to be the team’s starter, given Andy Reid’s public support of Smith. Smith is also well-versed in Reid’s complicated playbook, whereas Romo hasn’t played a full season since 2014 and is coming off of a serious back injury. Whether or not the Chiefs would even be interested in a serious question, yet rumors have persisted in KC ever since it was clear that the Cowboys’ were all-in on Dak Prescott at quarterback for the present and the future.
As illustrated by the odds, the Texans and Broncos and make much more sense as Romo’s future home. The Texans are a playoff team despite a serious void at quarterback after last year’s disaster turned in by Brock Osweiler. The Broncos are also a roster with Super Bowl hopes who might like the idea of Romo over Trevor Siemian, or at least as a veteran option alongside the young quarterback.
