The Kansas City Chiefs are favored to beat the New Orleans Saints on Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium.

The opening lines are out for the Chiefs and Saints in heir Week 7 tilt, and the legions here should be happy. Oddsmakers had the line start with Kansas City laying seven points, with the number dropping and settling at 6.5.

This line seems right. If the game was at a neutral site, the Chiefs would be favored by either 3.5 or 4 points. If the Superdome was the venue, New Orleans and Kansas City would likely be a PICK. Regardless, with the game at Arrowhead, the Chiefs are being looked upon as a considerable favorite.

Kansas City needs to take this contest and stash it in the win column. After beating the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, the Chiefs have put themselves in great position to move toward a playoff berth and an AFC West title. Andy Reid’s club is 2-0 within the division (the only AFC West team without a divisional loss) and is 3-2 overall, sitting pretty in the conference.

New Orleans won’t be an easy out, especially as the Chiefs continue to wait for Justin Houston’s return. Drew Brees can light any defense up, and Brandin Cooks is one of the toughest covers in the league. However, the rest of the roster is nothing to write home about, with New Orleans having one of the worst defenses in recent memory.

If the Chiefs can stick to the same formula they used Sunday – running the ball, getting off on third down – they should be fine. Kansas City has a chance to pick up some more ground on teams ahead of them as well, with the Raiders traveling to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
