So which Alex Smith is the true QB of the Chiefs this season? Is it the QB who last season had his first 1,000 yard receiver of his career and has consistently been under 3,500 yards passing in his career? Is it the guy that showed up to play the first half against the Chargers and managed only 95 yards passing? Or is the real Alex Smith the QB that showed up in the second half against the Chargers and threw for two touchdowns, 272 yards and ran for the winning TD in overtime?

For years the Chiefs have needed another QB to step forward in order to be able to really take them deep in the playoffs. Trent Green was good, but without any kind of defense that team had a significant flaw. When Alex came to Kansas City I was skeptical due several other QB’s that have gone from San Francisco to Kansas City. Elvis Grbac, Steve Bono and Steve DeBerg all played in San Francisco before they came to Kansas City as well.

On Locked on Chiefs we talked to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle to get an inside look at the Houston Texans.

I’m not a full believer in Smith’s ability to take the Chiefs back to the Super Bowl. But if he can play anything like what he did in the second half and overtime against the Chargers the Chiefs offense will be very hard to stop.
