There is no doubt that Jamaal is a star running back. Averaging over 5 yards per carry for his career is tops in the NFL for running backs. However, he is fast approaching 30, the age that most Rb’s start to decline. Not that this will happen with the former Texas standout, but that is the reality. Right now and into last season, not having Jamaal has netted more wins than when he was playing. The fact he was out may have forced the team to refuse to be a one-trick-pony and find ways to win without him.

So it brings to question; with the success that Spencer Ware has had on the field, does JC return to being the full-time featured back?

Well yes and no: Yes, because he is that dynamic of a player that can take it to the house anytime he touches the ball. He is elusive; hard to bring down; and if there is a sliver of space between our blocking O-line to allow him to get into the open field he is more than likely gone. He is also a good receiving option for Smith. His pass catching has only increased under head coach Andy Reid and he has set career highs in passes caught and yards the last four years.

He also should not come back into the featured back role with the Chiefs. The team has itself a plethora of able backs to take the ball with the hand off. Ideally he should be in a 1/2 to 3/4 time kind of role, which should include both Ware and West. The one-two and three punch of Ware, West and Charles will give defenses nightmares of whom they should cover on the field. Right now Spencer is averaging 5.6 yards per carry, which is a little above the career average of Charles’. Throw in Spencer Ware, and West as yet a third running back that can catch the ball and you have an issue as a defensive coordinator.

Right now, Charles is the number one back. However, there needs to be a slow start to get him back into the lineup. Ware and West are good at what they do and then you throw Charles back into the mix and man this offense has big potential. For now, Ware is the featured back for the time being, but Charles should look to have his normal (if not a little less than his average) touches for the game when he returns. This running back group has the ability to be so good that it is downright scary, with all three of these athletes.

What do you think, Addicts? What do you do with all three of these good running backs? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
