You might have expected inside linebacker at this spot, but that’s old hat. For me, it’s all about watching Chris Jones in a full game of action.

Jones was drafted with Kansas City’s first pick (37th overall) and has looked absolutely dominant to this point. When he was selected, I believed he would occasionally see snaps in a minor rotation behind Dontari Poe, Jaye Howard and Allen Bailey. Now? I think defensive coordinator Bob Sutton has to get him on the field early and often.

It’s one thing to dominate scrubs in a preseason game. It’s quite another to destroy starting offensive lineman as he has against the Rams and Chicago Bears. Jones has been a terror both against the run and pass, showcasing insane strength and quickness. Even more impressively, he has great awareness.

Kansas City might have found a legitimate star in Jones if the preseason is any indication. Perhaps he slows down in the regular season, and if he does, start decreasing playing time. However, if he keeps up anything close to his current pace, he will be in the running for Defensive Player of the Year. Seriously, watch the film, it’s absurd.

So, Addicts… what will you be watching for?
