*Chris Jones is an absolute beast and teams are going to regret letting the Chiefs pick him near the top of the second round. Don’t be surprised if a couple of years from now Jones is viewed as one of the best defenders from this draft class. Some rookies take time to adjust to the speed and power of the NFL game, but Jones already looks faster than most NFL players and still has the strength to stop the run as well.

*If all four of KC’s top defensive linemen stay healthy this season the Chiefs may make a strong claim for having the best defensive line in the NFL. In fact, the Chiefs may very likely have to cut a defensive lineman soon that could start for other NFL teams. This preseason Dontari Poe, Allen Bailey, Jaye Howard, Chris Jones, Nick Williams, Rakeem Nunez-Roches, and David King have all looked like NFL-caliber players, but I just don’t see how a base 3-4 team can keep seven defensive linemen. My guess is King misses the cut but don’t be surprised if he ends up playing for somebody else this season.

*I didn’t think he would show enough strength this preseason to make the team but Dadi Nicolas is another player that has proven me wrong. I thought Nicolas would be a practice squad guy until he had a chance to spend some time in a NFL weight room, but not only has Nicolas looked fast off the edge but he hasn’t been bad against the run either. He’s played well enough that I wouldn’t want to risk losing him if put on the practice squad.

*Another spot I’m curious to see how the depth chart shakes out is at inside linebacker. At this point DJ, March, and Ramik Wilson are locks to make the team. Will Josh Mauga start if healthy or is he a risk to get cut? Will DJ Alexander make it for special teams or will they like the upside of undrafted rookie Terrance Smith (who I thought looked really good on Saturday) more? That’s one position that I look forward to seeing the young guys get more work on Thursday night.

I think that does it for this week Addicts. What did you think of the Chiefs week three preseason win? Do you think this team looks ready for the regular season? Do you have any observations from this week that you think I overlooked or maybe some of mine that you disagree with? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

As always, thanks for reading and GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!!!!
