On Sunday around noon, news broke that All-Pro safety Eric Berry had reported to Arrowhead to rejoin the Kansas City Chiefs.

Shortly after the news came out, it was announced Berry had signed his franchise tender and would return to practice Monday. Chiefs fans should be ecstatic to get Berry back before the season starts.

Coach Andy Reid stated that he is leaning towards Berry not playing any on Thursday night which is not really a big surprise. Berry should easily be ready by the time the regular season starts on September 11 as it is being reported that he is in fantastic shape.

Kansas City’s trade for corner Kenneth Acker is still surprising. While the Chiefs lack proven depth at the CB position they definitely have a lot of young and talented corners that they have drafted over the past three seasons. Acker brings starting experience to the Chiefs CB’s as well as being a good special teams player. With the Chiefs giving up a draft pick to acquire him from San Francisco it looks like he will make the final roster even if his style of play doesn’t quite fit Kansas City’s defensive scheme.

Sunday afternoon the Chiefs began the process of cutting their roster down to 75 players before the Tuesday deadline.

The Chiefs released the following eight players:

C – Drew Nowak
OLB -Jonathan Massaquoi
CB – Bryce Cheek
DE – Niko Davis
OT – Curtis Feigt
CB –  Malcolm Jackson
WR – Seantavius Jones
WR – Kashif Moore.

There are no real surprises in this list of players. Massaquoi was a long shot to make the team but had the most experience. The Chiefs now stand at 81 players and still need to cut six players to get down to 75 players by Tuesday at 3 p.m. CST.
