*Dear Kansas City Chiefs fans, if any of you EVER complain about Alex Smith not throwing deep and then follow that up with saying we should start Nick Foles you should be forced to watch the last drive of that first half on repeat for 24 hours straight. I’ve watched three straight seasons of the so called “Captain Checkdown” offense run by Alex Smith and I’ve NEVER seen a drive where the quarterback threw so many dump off passes.

Granted, Foles completed a very high percentage of throws, but his yards per completion were non existent. Foles is a good insurance policy in case Smith misses any time this year, but the drop off from Smith to Foles is massive. If Foles has to play for an extended amount of time this season we better hope the defense comes around because he didn’t look like a guy that was going to win many shoot outs.

*I don’t know what happened with DeAnthony Thomas last season but he sure looks like a guy that belongs on a NFL roster. While he hasn’t done much in the return game he has looked great as a slot weapon this preseason. I don’t know if KC has a roster spot for him with the emergence of Tyreek Hill but I really hope they don’t just cut him and then have to watch him making plays for another team this fall.

*I’ll repeat what I said last week. Darrin Reaves is without question a better offensive player than Knile Davis. I really wish KC would give someone else a shot at the top kick return spot because that is the only thing keeping Davis on this roster. I really wish a team hungry for return help would trade us a pick for the combo of DAT and Davis.

Now let’s take a look at the defense.
