The Kansas City Chiefs have wrapped up training camp in St. Joe’s. Tonight, they take on the Los Angeles Rams for a preseason affair.

There remain plenty of questions that need answers prior to the opener on September 11. Through one preseason game, the offense has looked solid while the defense has not looked itself. But yes, before I get any angry comments below, it is the preseason. The value of these exhibition games have been questioned, but I am a believer they serve a purpose to an extent.

Enough so to put together an article of random thoughts when it comes to the Chiefs right now. I’ll hop around to anything Chiefs or NFL in a format of my liking. Hopefully this can hold you over until Saturday night.

Somebody other than Marcus Peters, please stand up.

The reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year has dominated camp and managed to capture an interception off of Russell Wilson while Seattle was threatening last weekend. It’s safe to say this pick in 2015 is looking pretty good. The problem is his surrounding secondary mates.

With no Justin Houston early on, the back end of this defense is going to have to step it up. Sean Smith is now sporting silver and black, so this is going to be a challenge for the Chiefs in 2016.

Phillip Gaines is expected to sit out again on Saturday, suggesting maybe his ACL recovery has not gone according to plan. How healthy and effective will he be by Week 1? Time will tell, but one of the youngsters have to rise to the occasion. Steven Nelson has been bragged about, but we got to see it live. Marcus Cooper is teasing us again. The rookies? Please come back Eric Berry.
