The Chiefs have great depth along the defensive line

Kansas City should not have to worry much about their linemen on the defense if one needs a break now and again. Once the starters were off the field the Chiefs applied heavy pressure to Seattle quarterbacks Trevone Boykin and Jake Heaps. Even when rushing just three guys the Chiefs were able to flush the quarterbacks out of the pocket and force early and inaccurate throws.

I am particularly impressed with Chris Jones who should see plenty of playing time on Sundays when the Chiefs go with a four or five man front. He only recorded two tackles but he usually led the charge of red jerseys through Seattle’s line in the second and third quarters. David King, Rakim Nunez-Roches, and Nick Williams also put in quality reps and showed that the Chiefs are going to be heave up front this season.

Cairo Santos is a little man with a big leg

Watching the Chiefs come up short on the opponents side of the field is never a fun thing to do. However, Chiefs fans can take some solace in the fact that they have a hell of a kicker on their team. He can hit field goals from just about anywhere inside the 48 yard line and maybe beyond. Santos’ 58-yarder on Saturday definitely looked like it would have been good from 65 yards out as it still had a solid 10 feet of clearance over the crossbar.

Santos also hit field goals from 28 and 49 yards as well as an extra point. He is now showing that he has one of the strongest legs in the league. While we hope we won’t need him to hit a lot of big kicks this year there will definitely be a few games that will be won with his foot.
