Tyler Bray came out firing and really wanted to show that he has the prettiest deep ball on the team. It still might sail beyond receivers just a bit too far but he is taking the shots that have been missing since the Trent Green era. I do believe that his deep pass to Rod Streater in the end zone in the second quarter should have been caught but it appeared that Streater slowed down and mis-judged the placement of the ball.

To me the best quarterback of the day was Aaron Murray. He came out with more zip on his passes and more confidence than everyone except maybe Smith. In particular, Murray had a great drive midway through the 3rd quarter where he showed good decision making and poise. His pass to Ross Travis near the goal line was a very catchable ball that could have resulted in another Chiefs touchdown.

Kevin Hogan looked very much the part of a rookie quarterback out there with some skittish feet and an awful throw behind his receiver that resulted in an interception and the only turnover committed by the Chiefs on the day. He did have a few solid plays and got the second most time on the field out of all the quarterbacks so he will be given plenty of opportunity to improve.

Tyreek Hill could be something special

Wide receiver Tyreek Hill has been blowing guys away with his sheer speed on the football field. He is the guy that will most likely send De’Anthony Thomas packing but it won’t be just because he is fast and agile. Hill looked like a guy who has the moves off the ball to get open even against the best of corners. He also appears to have good enough hands and ball skills to be a real deep threat on offense and not just a feature of the jet sweep.

Watching the game you could tell that fans are really excited when this kid touches the ball as each cut and jab step he makes draws a louder and louder reaction. Now I am not one to brush aside his past issues just because he makes some plays on the field. I believe that Hill will have to do some real work off the field to prove that the Chiefs did right by taking a chance on him. It does not matter how great a player you can be if you get in serious trouble off of it.

Next: That DL though...
