2. How the defense will look minus Justin Houston and Eric berry.
The defense of the Kansas City Chiefs has been the staple of the last few seasons. Led by All-Pro linebacker Justin Houston there is a solid core of defensive players for the team. However, this year will look a little different.
First off Houston was found out to have a small MCL tear that was discovered in February and has been in rehab ever since. Now things are looking up him to make a return sometime in 2016, the problem is we don’t know when that may be. So for now the Chiefs will be missing Houston for the foreseeable future.
Secondly, All-Pro safety Eric Berry has been the topic of discussion for the past few months about his new contract. No deal was reached and he has yet to sign his franchise tender, meaning he does have a deal on the table, but is not required to show up for anything, and is missing training camp. More than likely he will miss all the preseason games as well, meaning the team will be out of the core of their secondary.
Even though there will be some big absences on the defensive side of the ball, it will be a good time to see what the team has waiting in the wings. Players like Dee Ford and Daniel Sorensen, who have shown flashes will be given a long hard look during this game; as well as other players who might not hit the field as much.
