In each of his three seasons with the Chiefs, he has managed to take one kick return back for a touchdown. It certainly is something he excels in and that fits his skill-set. Again, this makes him that much harder to waive. However, with three backs already locked in onto the roster, the numbers may not be there for Davis.

The preseason games will play an important part for the fourth string back. If history is any indicator, Knile Davis’ recent success should be followed by an unfortunate turn of events. He is going to need to show he is a changed player.

The most crucial thing for him will be showing he can be trusted with the ball. The fumbling issue is far and beyond his number one concern. If it showcases itself again this preseason, I can’t see him staying around. Stiffness and being hesitant in the backfield has also been a problem for Davis, so Reid and Co. probably have their eye attuned to that as well.

Next: Kansas City Chiefs still need a quarterback of the future

Davis really is a true question mark at this point of his career. A statement needs to be made throughout the month of August if he is going to make this team. I think the Chiefs are almost done with playing the guessing game here. There is though one certainty when it comes to Knile Davis, and that is that nobody has any clue what to expect. A human scatter plot, Davis will be one of the more interesting players to follow as camp continues.
