The Kansas City Chiefs have come to terms with quarterback Nick Foles.

On Wednesday night, the Chiefs and quarterback Nick Foles agreed to a contract, according ot Mike Garafolo and others. Terms of the deal have not been announced.

Foles was released from the Los Angeles Rams in late July, a move everyone knew was coming following the drafting of Jared Goff this April with the first-overall selection.

Foles was originally drafted in the third round out of the University of Arizona by the Philadelphia Eagles back in 2012, the last year current Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was running the show there. This reunion makes sense as Kansas City was forced financially to let Chase Daniel walk this offseason.

The signing means a few things. One, the Chiefs are not overly-thrilled with the trio of Kevin Hogan, Tyler Bray and Aaron Murray. It also means that one of those quarterbacks is gone, with it likely being Bray or Murray.

Kansas City wants to compete for and win a Super Bowl this season. Should Alex Smith go down, Foles is a better option than any of the aforementioned trio in terms of what we know. Foles was terrible last year, throwing for 2,052 yards with seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions, but in the previous two years, was serviceable. In 2013, Foles was a Pro Bowler in Philadelphia when he tossed 27 touchdowns to only two picks, while throwing for 9.12 yards per attempt.

One thing about Reid; he’s a quarterback guru. He clearly likes Foles and believes he can get the magic back, or the 27-year-old wouldn’t be here.
