Coffee with the Chiefs – Back in the saddle

We have all the Kansas City Chiefs news and notes in one place.

The Kansas City Chiefs will be back at practice, in pads, at 8:15 a.m. CST. Until then, we have all the latest for you to read and get caught up on. For those who missed it, the Chiefs made their debut in pads on Monday, hitting for a few hours in both individual and team drills.

From all accounts, it was a good start for the offense, which has been slow out of the gate in recent years.

Here’s the news you need to know…

Chiefs practice notes and observations from Aug. 1Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star

"Tight end Demetrius Harris seems much more in his element on the field than he did two years ago. He caught several passes Monday and could be a nice target with his athleticism and huge catch radius, but he needs to eliminate the focus drops. He had a bad one near the sideline Monday."

Why it is now or never for the Kansas City ChiefsDee Jackson of KSHB 41

"First of all who’s going to contend with the talent and experience the Chiefs have? One player doesn’t win a Super Bowl, but it’s a refreshing thought there will be no Peyton Manning to deal with in Denver!  Oakland and San Diego combined last season for just 11 wins, while the Chiefs set a franchise record winning 10 in a row."

Chiefs lining Tyreek Hill up all over the placeJoel Thorman of Arrrowhead Pride

"If you’ve been paying attention then you could see the Tyreek Hill hype coming from a mile away. The Kansas City Chiefs WR is small, quick and shifty like Dexter McCluster and De’Anthony Thomas before him. The Chiefs are hoping that Hill turns into more of a contributor than DMC or DAT did."
