The Chiefs will need a number of those elements to come together if they stand any real chance of going deeper into the postseason in 2016. Championship teams find ways to overcome injuries. If Kansas City is to prove itself a viable contender in the AFC, they’ll make do with the rest of what’s in their cupboard this year. Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers will provide a great, early test in the season opener. Travis Benjamin, Keenan Allen and Antonio Gates could have a field day if the front seven can’t make life uncomfortable for Rivers.

How important is Ford’s maturation to the Chiefs’ pass rush in 2016? Is Tamba Hali finished or can he summon another second wind as he seemed to over the back half of 2015? Is Sutton savvy enough to manufacture pressure with inferior horses or should the front office have their eyes trained on the waiver wire over the next month?
