Kevin Hogan, QB

This may be a surprising one for some of you, but why not start off the list bold? A rookie QB selected in the fifth round, the Chiefs may have drafted themselves a potential steal here in Hogan.

Out of Stanford, this is an extremely bright kid who already has experience with the west coast offense. Hogan’s former head coach at Stanford, David Shaw, was delighted when he found out that Kevin landed with Andy Reid in Kansas City. Reid has a knack for being a quarterback guru, and the fact that Hogan is very cerebral and knows this offense only creates more intrigue.

The Stanford product is probably safe to make the team since KC spent a draft pick on him, but it will be interesting to see where he falls on the depth chart. It’s doubtful a rookie would place right behind Alex Smith from the get go, but Tyler Bray and Aaron Murray have hardly been consistent.

Reports out of OTA’s were that Hogan looked the part and had adjusted his quirky delivery from his college days. The velocity on his balls were also an area of interest for the media in attendance. Hogan’s characteristics and intangibles are very similar to Alex Smith’s, making the Cardinal alum an attractive long-term developmental option. Keep your eyes open, Addicts, this guy may be the future.
