5. The Three Players That Will Step Up And Win Jobs In Camp Are…..

Chris Conley

I just have this gut feeling that by the end of training camp Chris Conley will have cemented himself as the clear number two wideout opposite Jeremy Maclin. Conley is by far the most physically gifted athlete in the receiver group with great size, speed, and leaping ability. He’s also a very smart guy that I expect to have the full playbook grasped in his second season. Conley saw his snaps rise as the year went by last season and now its time for him to really step up. I predict he will be the number one player fans are excited about as camp goes by.

Phillip Gaines

Kansas City has a slew of young corners that will be competing for playing time during camp. However, the clear top choice to start opposite Marcus Peters is Phillip Gaines. Gaines has actually looked very good when he has played during his first two seasons. The problem is that he’s been hurt too often and hasn’t been able to play enough. I think that in his third season he’ll really show he’s a notch above all the other young guys and cement his position as the other starting corner. I’ll even go so far as to predict that he’ll play well enough that opposing quarterbacks won’t be able to avoid Marcus Peters like they may be hoping to. I expect Gaines to play very well (now just cross your fingers and hope that he can stay healthy this year).

Justin March

This is basically a prediction that Justin March will pick up where he left off last year before he got hurt. March was the talk of camp last year when he was on the verge of earning a starting spot at inside linebacker despite being an undrafted free agent. Unfortunately, his season was ended before it even began. Reports during mini-camp were that he was back flying around the field so I expect him to challenge and eventually unseat Josh Mauga for the starting job beside Derrick Johnson. March just seems to have that spark about him. He’s physical against the run and is good in coverage as well. I believe he’ll be one of the stars of camp once again this year.

So what do you think Addicts? Do you agree with these final pre-training camp thoughts and predictions or do you think I missed the mark on something? Do you have major thoughts about this team entering camp that I didn’t cover? I’d love to hear all your thoughts in the comments below.

As always, thanks for reading and GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!!!!
