On Tuesday, the rookies of the Kansas City Chiefs will report to training camp.

While the first full team practice of training camp does not happen until Saturday, July 30, we can finally celebrate the new season on Tuesday.

That day marks the beginning of the campaign as the rookies and quarterbacks report to training camp, hoping to earn one of the final 53 spots ion the roster for Sept. 11, when Kansas City hosts the San Diego Chargers.

It will be very intriguing to see how these rookies work themselves into the lineup. Right now, it would appear that fourth-round pick Parker Ehinger has the best chance to crack the lineup, starting perhaps at left guard. Then there is Chris Jones, Kansas City’s first pick, who could be in a rotation with Allen Bailey and Jaye Howard.

Of all the rookies, maybe the most interesting is Tyreek Hill. While many – including myself – don’t want Hill anywhere near the team for his extremely troubled past, he wowed folks at OTAs with his blazing speed. If he can continue to impress with the pads on, Hill might find himself returning kicks and punts while carving out a niche on offense.

Here’s to hoping camp is productive and goes off without any major injuries.
