Steven Nelson

Nelson was drafted along with Peters in 2015 but played mostly in reserve even through the suspension of Smith and the injury of Gaines. He did see some action in nickel and dime packages but his time was mostly uneventful as he recorded 8 tackles and no pass deflections and no interceptions.

Nelson will solidify his role as the primary backup to the starters and will occasionally pop in with the first three on dime packages. He is talented enough to stick with NFL receivers but he will be in a battle in camp with DJ White and other rookies the Chiefs picked up.

DJ White

White impressed a lot of people in rookie mini-camp in May with his style of play and his ability to impact the defense. His leadership and toughness are what impress the coaching staff the most. He has a motor that never quits despite not having as much raw talent as many of his peers.

What he does have is a real head for the game and the experience to dissect plays quickly as they happen in front of him. He will be in a heated battle with the other corners in camp to get game time but he will most likely make the roster.
