Coffee with the Chiefs – When will Berry show?

Good morning, Addicts! It’s almost time to start cracking pads in training camp, which means the start of the best season on Earth is right around the corner.

The Kansas City Chiefs have plenty to look forward to, but also plenty to worry over. There is the potential holdout of safety Eric Berry, who did not come to terms on a deal and is yet to sign his franchise tag tender. Meanwhile, when will outside linebacker Justin Houston get back on the field and start doing some team drills?

Hopefully, everything works out for Berry, Houston and the Chiefs. Here is the news you need to know…

Potential Eric Berry absence puts defense in even tighter spotAdam Teicher of ESPN

"If Berry isn’t with the Chiefs for their Sept. 11 season-opener against the San Diego Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City could be without three of its top defensive players from last season. Cornerback Sean Smith departed in free agency to the Oakland Raiders and linebacker Justin Houston probably won’t be fully recovered after his offseason knee surgery."

‘Catching Kelce’ will hit airwaves on Oct. 5Blair Kerkhoff of the Kansas City Star

"According to a news release, Kelce is “trying a whole new offense when it comes to the game of love! Fifty eligible women, including former WAGS (wives and girlfriends of sports stars), sports royalty, social media stars, entrepreneurs, hometown sweethearts and fitness models from across the United States, will be invited to Los Angeles as this fun-loving athlete searches for that special someone to become his lifelong ‘teammate.’ ”"

Avoiding the sophomore slumpJoel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride

"Peters probably won’t have eight picks again. There is some flukiness to interceptions because you rely on someone else (the quarterback) to make a mistake. Teams are going to be weary of Peters this year."
