Wide Receiver

It’s no secret that John Dorsey and Andy Reid inherited a mess at wide receiver.  And while Dorsey hasn’t been without fault in fixing this issue (no receiver from the 2013 active roster remains on the team), we have started to see clear progress thanks to the addition of Jeremy Maclin.

The Dwayne Bowe days are now well behind us.  Also done and over with is the Jon Baldwin fiasco.  Those moves in and of themselves are victories for this franchise.

But Dorsey has also brought in a number of talented youngsters for coach David Culley to work with.  And while their potential still needs to be proven on the field, Chiefs fans can at least be hopeful in the fact that there are a lot of them, and that this team has shown they are willing to keep churning the roster until the right players emerge.

Albert Wilson – Chiefs fans are always on the lookout for a Training Camp success story.  Well here you go, Albert Wilson is just that.  An undrafted free agent out of Georgia State, Wilson has been climbing the ladder ever since he came to town.  He got himself onto the team, then the active roster, and then the field, leading up to his taking over the No. 2 role in the Chiefs wide receiving corps last year.

If he continues to develop, Wilson has the ability to be a quality receiver in the NFL for years to come.  His contract is up after this season, so this year will be especially important for him.
