Rivalries, often most synonymous in college football, do hold a place in the NFL. Often times, they take place within the confines of a division. But some historical perspective can show this isn’t always the case.

There is a never-ending argument amongst fans of football. Which is more entertaining: college or professional? Both have their strengths, both have their weaknesses. There are some (like me) that see the good and bad about both and would happily enjoy either.

One of the often referred to “strengths” college football has is the rivalries. Ohio State-Michigan, Oklahoma-Texas, Alabama-Auburn. Rivalries run deep in the college game, often times leading to some fans taking some… drastic measures to get under the opposing school’s skin.

Rivalries do exist in the NFL, however. Often times, though, they take place within a division, much like how most college rivalries are within a conference. The Raiders, Broncos and Chargers can all be considered rivals for the Chiefs. But there are other teams outside the division, and even outside of the conference, that could be considered rivalries for Kansas City.

With history as the main motive and in no particular order, here are five out-of-division rivals for the Kansas City Chiefs.
