I just don’t see how any Chiefs fan, regardless of their feelings on Smith, could complain about his contract today. John Dorsey was smart to sign Smith when he did before the average quarterback salaries began to climb along with the steadily rising salary cap.

The Chiefs finally won a playoff game last season and are in position to make another run this year. The fact that they are doing it with one of the cheapest non-rookie deal quarterbacks in all the NFL is an advantage for the Chiefs that allows them to build a more complete roster and they are in a good position as far as quarterback salaries go for the next several years as well.

While we may never come to a consensus as Chiefs fans on what we think of Alex Smith the player I think the debate over his contract from two years ago has officially been closed. It was a good deal for KC and Smith is now a bargain when it comes to NFL starting quarterbacks. Not only that, but the Chiefs are now in a position where they are free to do whatever they think is necessary at the quarterback position moving forward.

If you’re interested in seeing the complete list of NFL quarterback contracts I highly encourage you to check out overthecap.com’s list HERE.

So what do you think Addicts? Do you agree that Smith’s contract is a bargain in today’s NFL? If you could go back in time and advise John Dorsey about Smith’s contract would you have him do anything different? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Also, I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July.

After you’re done in the comments section please get yourself outside and grill something or blow something up, this is America after all! All kidding aside, I’m lucky to live in the best country on Earth, God bless the USA and all those that have served in the name of our freedom.

As always, thanks for reading and GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!
