We’re almost there, Addicts. There is only one more month left to endure before football season starts up again. Some of you may despise the preseason, but I always looked at it as being better than nothing. Besides, more than anything it should represent that the real action is just around the corner.

Lucky for all of you, my job is to guide you from the dog days of summer until then. And what better way to do that than creating a ranking of some sort that can stir a debate? 5. Week 1: San Diego at Kansas City

This one might not make sense for some of you, but the opener is always very important for obvious reasons. With matchups against Houston, the Jets, and Pittsburgh following this game, it will be imperative that the Chiefs take care of business at home versus a familiar foe. San Diego is consistently good at giving Kansas City a tough game, especially at Arrowhead.

It took a goal line stand last year to prevail at home for the Chiefs, and two years earlier it was Philip Rivers who won the game after a 26-yard touchdown pass with 24 seconds to go. Rivers is as competitive as they come and embraces any challenge.
