For diehard fans of the Kansas City Chiefs (if you’re reading a Chiefs blog in late June that’s you) there are always things to discuss about your favorite team. While the list of topics is virtually endless, most of them this time of year revolve around one central theme:

Just how good will the 2016 Chiefs be?

We all have our own thoughts on this topic, but as Chiefs fans many of us are probably a little biased on the subject. So I thought I’d take a look at what the consensus was among the national sports media. I did a little searching and found seven different NFL Power Rankings from major sports media sites that cover the NFL all from after the NFL Draft and free agency. Below are the sites, the authors of these rankings and where they had the Chiefs ranked:

NFL.com – Elliot Harrison – 8
SI.com – Chris Burke – 9
ESPN – Dan Graziano – 10
CBS – Pete Prisco – 10
Bleacher Report – Brent Sobieski – 10
USA Today (no author listed) – 10
Walterfootball.com – Walter Cherepinsky – 11

As you can see there isn’t a lot of variance in where the Chiefs are ranked. The average ranking for the Chiefs came out to about 9.7. When I averaged all the teams out the Chiefs ranked 10th in the consensus power rankings.

Next: Thoughts?
