Three years of the Dorsey-Reid era are in the books, and for us Kansas City Chiefs fans, it is all peaches and cream right now.

It was just a few years back in 2012 that we saw Kansas City once again reach the lowest of lows, finishing their season with just two wins. That was also the year of the Jovan Belcher tragedy, presenting a feeling that things really could not get much worse when it came to this organization.

Yet, here we are. The Chiefs haven’t had a losing season since, have reached the playoffs in two of the last three years, and finally won a playoff game this past winter (first since 1993). This team has found themselves again for the first time since Dick Vermeil roamed the sidelines over a decade ago.

In fact, Vermeil had just come to visit with former QB Trent Green the other day as the Chiefs closed their mandatory minicamp. It feels as though this Chiefs team now can be a true contender like Vermeil’s teams once were. This team has found its EDGE. Something it has been looking for since Trent Green, Priest Holmes, and Tony Gonzalez last wore the red and gold.

Those rebuilding years after Vermeil were just horrific. Herm Edwards just never could get it done as a head coach, and names like Brodie Croyle and Kolby Smith will forever hold a special place in our hearts (unfortunately). These were lifeless teams, and except for a few bright moments under Todd Haley, it was all much of the same. But from the day Andy Reid took over the locker room, everything has changed.
