Dee Ford Sacks

Over/Under Line: 6 sacks

Thus far in his career the former first round pick has not been the pass rush force the Chiefs were hoping for when they drafted him. He has just 5.5 total sacks in his two seasons, so sadly the over/under line of 6 sacks may be too high.

Still, you have to think this is Ford’s make or break season and with Justin Houston coming off a knee injury and Tamba Hali getting up in years one would assume that Ford will see another increase in playing time this season. Here’s his sacks and percentage of defensive snaps in his first two seasons.

2014: 1.5 sacks, 11.5% of defensive snaps
2015: 4 sacks, 44.1% of defensive snaps

My Prediction: Over

This is probably the optimist in me coming out. I just have this feeling that Ford may finally have a bit of a break through as a pass rusher. I don’t know if he’ll break into double digits, but I’m hoping for the 7-9 range. It’s sad that this is considered optimistic for a first round pass rusher in his third season, but unfortunately that’s where we are at this point.

What do you think, over or under 40% of the defensive snaps for Chris Jones this season?
