9. 1993 AFC Wild Card – Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs

This is easily one of the best games we have ever seen for the red and gold. Kansas City had gotten into the AFC playoffs after winning the West for the first time since 1971. The Chiefs had high hopes with Joe Montana in his first year at the helm, leading the team to an 11-5 record an the No. 3 seed.

After starting the game poorly, Kansas City was able to heat up but then fell behind Neil O’Donnell and the rest of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the final two minutes. Pittsburgh, leading 24-17, tried to punt but Mark Royals’ attempt was blocked by Keith Cash.

On the ensuing fourth and goal, Montana found Tim Barnett wide open in the back of the end zone to tie the score. After missing a potential game-winning field goal at the end of regulation, dependable Nick Lowery atoned for his earlier mistake, nailing a 32-yard attempt to send Kansas City onward.

For anybody who watched this game, it will always be about the improbable blocked punt and the eruption at Arrowhead after Barnett secured the touchdown grab.
