The Kansas City Chiefs were without another member of their backfield trio on Wednesday.

Kansas City was back at practice on Wednesday for the second day ot OTAs this week, and we see there was a notable absence. Running back Charcandrick West was not at practice for reasons unknown, according to Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star.

West led the team in rushing yards last year after seeing Jamaal Charles go down in Week 5 with a torn ACL against the Chicago Bears. West filled in alongside Spencer Ware and became a huge part of the offense, showcasing his ability to both catch and run.

At this juncture, there is no reason to think West is injured. Perhaps he simply had something to take care of. Don’t forget, these are not mandatory. There is no penalty if a player skips these practices, although next week’s minicamp requires participation.

The trio of Charles, West and Ware is going to be key for Kansas City going into 2016. They are arguably the best running back group in the National Football League and could lead the Chiefs deep into the playoffs.
