Coffee with the Chiefs – Defense rests?

Good morning, Addicts! I hope you are all enjoying a nice Tuesday wherever you are. The Kansas City Chiefs are beginning their third and final OTA session, with only the mandatory minicamp to come next week.

In the meantime, there is plenty to be talking about. Will the Chiefs get through another healthy week? Can Kansas City learn something new about the roster? Maybe a rookie can step up and shine this week or a veteran makes strides in a key area. The season is so much fun.

"It could be argued that Poe is no longer the MVP of this unit, but I’d punch you in the face for saying so. Poe is playing for his first (and maybe only) serious pay day and that contract year should mean serious dividends on the field. Can the Chiefs afford him long-term? Who knows, but for now they should look forward to his best year yet. Unless something poe-tentially breaks down like our scenario here."

"Injuries are really the wild card there, aren’t they? With Gaines, he’s been nicked up and on the sidelines for the majority of his career to this point. Any time that happens it seems like we’re skeptical of a guy’s ability to stay healthy until he submits a full year or two without any issues."
