Top 10 Kansas City Chiefs on current roster
1. Justin Houston
Despite having a knee injury to receiver from this offseason, Houston has to be the top player on the current roster.
Houston has been nothing but dominant since being drafted out of the University of Georgia in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He has paired beautifully with Tamba Hali to become one of the premiere pass-rushing duos in the game today.
For his career, Houston has 56 sacks including his record-setting 22-sack performance of 2014. That season stands as a monument to his career, regardless of how he plays moving forward. all that said, there is a good chance he continues to dominate since he’s only 27 years old.
Personally, I can recall being at training camp last year and watching the second practice of the campaign in brutally hot conditions. The practice ran about two hours and had finished, and I looked out and saw one player still working, hitting the sled repeatedly. He was by himself, and working his ass off.
I assumed it was a young kid trying to make an impression. It was Justin Houston, weeks after signing a $101 million contract. He worked for an extra 20 minutes on pass-rushing techniques.
That’s why Houston is a great player, and the best Chief on the current team.
