Denver Broncos: Star pass rusher DeMarcus Ware is not practicing during OTAs due to a nagging back injury, though he is expected to be ready for Training Camp.  However, both head coach Gary Kubiak and General Manager John Elway have now made specific mention of their concern for Ware’s back.

Another interesting headline for the Broncos is the domestic dispute involving wide receiver Cody Latimer.  Latimer apparently called police to de-escalate a heated situation with his girlfriend in which she slapped him.  But that’s not the interesting part…apparently he just happened to be wearing a GoPro camera at the time.  What?

  • Chiefs’ Take: The Broncos are going to be relying heavily on their defense to carry the load again this year.  So if Ware continues to have issues, that throws a wrench in their plans. And any setback for another AFC West team is one less hurdle for the Chiefs…or this could be a red herring the Broncos are feeding the media.

Detroit Lions: The Lions suffered their first setback of the year as tight end Tim Wright underwent a season ending knee surgery.

Houston Texans: The Texans have released veteran guard David Quessenberry with a Non-Football Injury designation.  Quessenberry has been battling cancer for the last couple of years.

  • Chiefs’ Take: This should give some further perspective to fans and analysts alike when it comes to just how great Eric Berry’s comeback has been.

Jacksonville Jaguars: The Jaguars made a big investment in their future by signing wide receiver Allen Hurns to a $10M/yr extension.  The team also signed journeyman guard Patrick Omameh.

  • Author’s Take: Hurns was playing an UDFA contract, so the Jags actually could have controlled his rights for less money over the next few years.  However, this investment was probably an effort to get out ahead of the steadily increasing wide receiver market.  The contract for Hurns essentially sets the WR2 market moving forward
