Draft Picks: As of today, there are only 41 players from the 2016 NFL Draft that remain unsigned.

  • Chiefs’ Take: 3rd round pick, Keivare Russell, is the only Chiefs draft pick who has yet to sign his contract.

Atlanta Falcons: The Falcons brought in veteran pass rusher Dwight Freeney for a workout, but have decided not to sign him at this time.  However, he team has left the door open to revisit that decision later in the offseason.

Author’s Take

: Might as well put it in plain English:  Falcons know their pass rush sucks, but don’t really think Freeney has anything left in the tank to fix that.  But, he might still be a  better option than anyone they’ve got.

Chicago Bears: Rumors are circulating that all parties involved are fine with wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey playing this year on the Franchise Tag.  On the opposite end of the spectrum, veteran linebacker Willie Young has expressed his desire to retire with the Bears, and has confirmed an extension is being discussed.  The team also added veteran offensive lineman Nate Chandler, who they chose over Jake Long.

  • Author’s Take: A little surprising, but Jeffrey is likely to command the next megadeal for a wide receiver.  And with the Bears looking to rebuild other areas of their roster, allowing Jeffrey to sign that deal with another team may be the best course of action.

Cleveland Browns: The Browns may have hit a major snag as emerging young tight end Gary Barnridge has had surgery for a sports hernia.  The surgery will keep him out until Training Camp at the very least.

Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys have lost third round defensive tackle Maliek Collins to a broken foot.  The rookie will miss 10-12 weeks.  That timeframe should have him back by the end of Training Camp.
