Going into 2016, which Kansas City Chiefs player is the biggest wild card?

There are always players you want to see step up. For the Kansas City Chiefs, we have no shortage of players who could make a huge difference by taking the proverbial leap and making a serious impact.

This year, there are ample candidates as the ultimate x-factor in Kansas City. One of them would certainly be outside linebacker Dee Ford. Ford is likely going to be a starter to begin the regular season opposite of Tamba Hali while Justin Houston rehabs from an ACL injury.

Ford was drafted in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft and has only racked up 4.5 sacks in his career, albeit in limited action. If he is ever going to become a player worth his selection, now is the time.

Another x-factor is Chris Conley. After watching Albert Wilson have another mediocre year in 2015, it’s time to wonder whether or not Conley could jump up and take the starting role. Conley caught less than 200 yards last year, but showed up in the playoffs when Jeremy Maclin went down.

Another potential x-factor is the duo of rookie corners. Can KeiVarae Russell or D.J. White become a starter by having a massive training camp. It’s going to take just that to be a starter, with Steven Nelson and Phillip Gaines sitting ahead of them on the depth chart.
