Josh Mauga/Frank Zombo: Many pundits believe the Cowboys could still use some help in the linebacker corps.

Sean Lee is oft-injured, Rolando McClain is unreliable, and the newly added Jaylon Smith won’t be available until a playoff run under the most optimistic of scenarios.  Getting a veteran like Mauga or Zombo would provide some much needed stability to the group.

Both Ramik Wilson and Justin March showed flashes of promise last year, and I think that puts the Chiefs in a great spot to make a move with Mauga.  Zombo is a dedicated backup and Special Teams guy, so there isn’t much reason not to strongly consider him.

Rod Streater: The Cowboys wide receiver situation isn’t as strong as many would think.  Dez Bryant and Jason Witten are excellent options to be sure.  And Terrance Williams can be good in a pinch.  But after that?  A whole lotta nothing really.  A guy like Streater can come in and play an excellent complimentary role.

I don’t blame you for being skeptical about this one, but when you break it down, this makes sense.  The Chiefs do have Albert Wilson and Chris Conley returning, plus the additions of Tyreek Hill and Demarcus Robinson.

Add that to Jeremy Maclin and you’re already at five wide receivers.  There’s also Mike Williams, Daron Brown, Frankie Hammond, and several other newcomers to factor in.  This move would also open up a nice chunk of cap space.  And what does it cost us?  A guy we HOPE is recovered from his 2015 injury issues and was unlikely to be on the roster beyond 2016 anyways.

Overall, things just fall in line for the Chiefs to go after Ronald Leary.  Chiefs appear to have a need, the cost is affordable, and the player is talented.  On top of that, he can be a one year rental if that’s all the Chiefs need.  John Dorsey has been aggressive in post-draft trades each year that he’s been in KC, and I see no reason why he shouldn’t continue that here
