The simple uncertainty of our available options is why Ronald Leary is the man the Chiefs need.  When there are so many uncertainties in a situation, if a solid solution presents itself, you take it.  As I stated in the opening, it’s like the planets aligned for the Chiefs and presented the absolute perfect solution for the team.

For those of you that might still be wondering just who it is I’m talking about, or why he should be a consideration, here’s the skinny…  Leary is the former starting left guard of the Dallas Cowboys.

He is currently seeking a trade after Dallas confirmed that second-year super steal La’el Collins will be starting in the left guard spot this year.  Leary’s losing the job has absolutely nothing to do with his own talent, and everything to do with the fact that a bizarre turn of events led to Collins going from a surefire first round pick to an UDFA who signed with the first team that showed faith in him.

Even with the big score, Dallas still started the season with Leary at left guard, and he continued to play well until a groin injury essentially ended his season.  Collins took over, and the Cowboys basically had an Alex Smith -> Colin Kaepernick situation.  No real reason for Leary to lose his job, but a lot of reasons to keep Collins on the field (Note: Not a coincidence I referenced a similar situation that ended up working out well for the Chiefs).

Prior to that unfortunate injury, Ronald Leary was playing some damn good football.  He was a major staple of the Dallas offensive line that many pundits considered to be the best in the league.  The talent is absolutely there, and when I watch Leary play, I see a clear upgrade over any of the guard options currently on the Chiefs roster.
