Coffee with the Chiefs – Trying out a guard

Good morning, Addicts! The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up for a week of OTAs soon, while we all get to sit back and relax with the weekend coming up. I’ll be moving in with the fiance, so my weekend won’t be including a ton of resting. Hopefully yours is a touch more mellow.

In the meantime, let’s talk Chiefs football. Kansas City is getting the benefit of the doubt from Las Vegas, which has it as the favorite in the AFC West over the Fighting Sanchez’s and the Oakland Raiders. It’s a good time to root for the red and gold.

Here is the news you need to know…

Chiefs recently visited with free-agent guard  – Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride

"This is an interesting workout for the Chiefs, given the uncertainty at both guard positions going into the 2016 season.  We think Jah Reid should hold down one of the starting jobs but there are a variety of candidates in the mix for the other, including LDT, Zach Fulton and fourth round draft pick Parker Ehinger."

Kansas City Chiefs: 10 biggest contractsLeigh Oleszczak of KC Kingdom

"Smith, on the other hand, was originally only signed to a two-year deal, but was extended before the 2014 season began. Most teams like to pay their quarterbacks handsomely, but how high on this list is Smith?"

Jamaal Charles has high regard for running backs behind him –  Jacob Bartelson of Pro Football Weekly

"The Chiefs seemed to agree, as both West and Ware signed contract extensions in the offseason after combining for 1,037 rushing yards, 10 touchdowns and helping lead Kansas City to an 10-1 regular season record without Charles. The Chiefs drubbed the Houston Texans 30-0 in the wildcard game, but fell short by a touchdown versus the New England Patriots a week later in the divisional round."
