In Vegas over/unders, Chiefs rule AFC West

Las Vegas has spoken, and the Kansas City Chiefs are getting more love.

On Thursday morning, Vegas betting house BOVADA released its much-anticipated 2016 National Football League over/unders. Whil the Chiefs didn’t land at the top number, they can pretty damn close.

Kansas City is listed at 9.5 wins, ranking even with the Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals, Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Bengals and Indianapolis Colts, per Pro Football Talk. As for the rest of the AFC West, the Denver Broncos are at nine wins, with the Oakland Raiders sitting at 8.5 and the San Diego Chargers down at seven victories.

In other words, Vegas says the final order of the West will be: Chiefs, Broncos, Raiders, Chargers.

I would concur with Vegas on this. Most people are vaulting Oakland ahead of Denver, but the Broncos defense has to be accounted for. The Raiders also have a ton of new players coming into the fold, something that usually takes a while to mesh.

Remember when the Philadelphia Eagles put together their so-called Dream Team back in 2011? It went 8-8.

The only teams put ahead of the Chiefs on the over/under list are the New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, Carolina Panthers, Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks, who are all at 10.5

Going by these numbers, the following teams would make the playoffs in some order:

AFC

1. New England Patriots
2. Pittsburgh Steelers
3. Kansas City Chiefs
4. Indianapolis Colts
5. Cincinnati Bengals
6. Denver Broncos

NFC

1. Carolina Panthers
2. Seattle Seahawks
3. Green Bay Packers
4. Dallas Cowboys
5. Arizona Cardinals
6. Minnesota Vikings

If that happens, it means five new division winners and two new playoff teams.
