Power Rankings: Chiefs Top 10 All-Time Running Backs
By Bill Robbins
2. Jamaal Charles
When I was first making up my list, current Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles and former Chiefs RB Priest Holmes were number one and number two to me, with the other eight remaining back on a different level. If you have seen either of these guys play while in a Kansas City uniform, there would be no surprise, especially Charles. The one time University of Texas track star has evolved into one of the top backs in franchise history by combining speed, patience, toughness and an incredible work ethic to go along with it.
The Port Arthur, Texas native has made four different Pro Bowl teams, has compiled five seasons over rushing for 1,000 or more yards and has also scored 62 touchdowns during his career in KC. He is also ranked first all-time in NFL history for running backs with a 5.5 YPC average. This is all without mentioning that during the 2014 regular season, Charles became the all-time leading rushing in team history, surpassing the number one back on this list, Holmes.
If it wasn’t for his two separate ACL tears in his career, we might be talking about a potential NFL Hall-of-Famer. However, he should easily get a spot in the Chiefs Hall of Fame whenever his career in KC ends someday and will go down as one of the most well-liked players in team history as well.
