13. Steve Bono

This one is personal for me. Why? Because I was born in 1988 and the first year i remember rooting for this team was 1993. I got to see Joe Montana and all the good times and then was subjected to the Steve Bono era. The only good thing about that era was how brief it was, because wow did it stink.

Bono took over the starting job in1995 for Montana who had retired the previous spring, and most expected the team to tank. Instead, the Chiefs rode a great defense and a punishing ground game into the playoffs with the top seed in the AFC at 13-3. Bono was actually named to the Pro Bowl, throwing for 3,121 yards with 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 56 percent of his passes. This was somehow Pro Bowl-worthy.

In the AFC Divisional playoffs against the Indianapolis Colts, Bono imploded. He threw four interceptions, costing Kansas City the chance to host the AFC Championship. The game is always remembered for Lin Elliott, but Bono was every bit as much to blame.

In 1996, Bono went for 12 touchdowns and 13 interceptions as Kansas City collapsed in December to miss the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
