Chiefs all-time quarterbacks: power rankings
15. Steve Fuller
That’s right, Steve Fuller. You thought we forgot about good ol’ Steve, who only started for two seasons before Bill Kenney took over. Fuller was taken in the 1979 NFL Draft, ahead of some guy named Joe Montana. If you need a moment to smash some things around the computer and maybe grab a box of tissues (or 100 boxes) we all understand. The Chiefs are not big fans of drafting well at this position, and Fuller is a prime example.
As a rookie, Fuller came out of Clemson and started 12 games before starting in 13 the following year. Shockingly, Fuller was terrible, throwing 16 touchdowns against 26 interceptions. To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Kansas City did not make the playoffs at any point. Fuller lasted in Kansas City through the 1982 season before going to the Chicago Bears and actually winning a Super Bowl in 1985.
Fuller did at least win a championship and was a marginally important player, starting some games while Jim McMahon was out. Meanwhile, Fuller playing like garbage made the Chiefs go look for more help at the position, which led them to Blackledge. This makes it even worse somehow, something that seemed impossible after watching Fuller play.
