Chiefs all-time quarterbacks: power rankings
16. Todd Blackledge
Surely, some of you wanted this name to be at the bottom of the list. Simply uttering the last name evokes rage within Kansas City, with people constantly screaming about the loss chance to take Jim Kelly or Dan Marino. Blackledge was taken with the No. 7 overall pick in the 1983 NFL Draft, with Kansas City believing it had gotten the future. It had gotten nothing.
Blackledge would last with the Chiefs through the 1987 season before playing two years as a backup with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Blackledge never truly earned the starting job with the Chiefs, only starting 24 contests. He was brutally bad when on the field, throwing for 4,510 yards with 26 touchdowns and 32 interceptions while on Kansas City. His completion percentage was an appalling 48.1 percent.
Blackledge would have been a major disappointment regardless of when he was taken in the draft, but a first-round pick? His name will always be talked about as one of the biggest busts in NFL history, with most believing he would be a star for well over a decade. Now that Blackledge is a college football analyst for ESPN, we all get to look at him every Saturday and feel rage. Always a good time.
