4. Alex Smith
So, this is where we stand with Mr. Smith. We can argue about Smith and his exploits until the end of time, but he is already one of the best quarterbacks this franchise has ever enjoyed. Smith has a Pro Bowl berth to his name and is generally looked upon as being a good quarterback who falls below the elite category.
Smith has been nothing but a winner since coming to the Chiefs before the 2013 season. In his first year with the team, Kansas City won 11 games (after winning two in 2012) and reached the playoffs. The following year saw the Chiefs win nine games, losing out on a playoff spot due to a single win. Last year, the Chiefs rolled to 10 consecutive wins at the end of the regular season, chalking up an 11-5 mark.
In the playoffs, Smith led Kansas City to its first playoff win in 22 years before narrowly losing to the New England Patriots. He’s never going to the Hall of Fame without a ticket, but he is a quality player who can win a Super Bowl. Smith also enjoyed a career year in 2015, throwing for 3,486 yards with 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Smith is also very mobile, finishing third in rushing yards for quarterbacks behind Cam Newton and Russell Wilson.
