Offensive Line Depth – The starting five is starting to take shape with Parker Ehringer getting the majority of snaps at left guard in rookie camp.  This gives us a likely starting group of Fisher-Ehringer-Morse-Reid-Schwartz.

As long as KC can keep that group together through most of the offseason, it should work out just fine.  But who is playing in reserve?  Zach Fulton likely has a spot locked up due to his versatility.  But is Tardif a lock, or is he fighting for a roster spot?  Who is backing up the tackle position?

That’s mindset, resources, and need all check marks.  So at this point, it’s a pretty safe assumption that the Chiefs will have something in the works to continue working at the roster.  But what kind of a move?

The current free-agent market is pretty bare, though there will be surprise cuts as the offseason goes on.  They could wait and see who becomes available.  But there is also still the question of Knile Davis and De’Anthony Thomas.  It has already been leaked on a couple of occasions that the Chiefs were trying to trade Davis, so it should be expected that at some point they get an acceptable offer.

There was an early rumor involving Thomas being on the trading block, but that was quickly refuted by all parties.  However, with the team drafting Tyreek Hill, one would have to think that trading DAT is indeed a possibility.  Either player could be flipped for another player or future picks.

It comes down to what John Dorsey thinks will best serve this organization.  And his track record pretty much stands on its own.  Anthony Sherman, Kurt Coleman, Kelcie McCray, Jah Reid, and several others have ended up playing solid roles in Kansas City after being added to the roster late in the offseason.

So be on the lookout for that late addition, chances are they will play a pretty substantial role on the team.
