Coffee with the Chiefs – Rookie camp happenings

Good morning, Addicts! Hopefully you enjoyed what turned out to be a beautiful weekend around these parts. The Kansas City Chiefs are in the middle of their annual rookie camp with some youngsters getting a chance to show up and perhaps earn a spot in training camp.

It’s crazy to think about, but the Chiefs are less than three months from being in St. Joes, hoping to prepare for a Super Bowl season. Kansas City should be going into that time with a very talented roster, maybe the most talented since the days of Marty Schottenheimer or Hank Stram.

"Murray, by the luck of the draw, drew a number that is popular among young corners, largely because of Deion Sanders’ influence. Sean Smith said he switched from No. 27 to No. 21 two years ago largely because of that reason."

"But Kansas City has plenty of temptations for the 310-pound Jones, who was drafted early in the second round and is the Chiefs’ top pick. They come in the form of the city’s numerous barbecue joints and Jones indicated before his first rookie camp practice on Saturday he was eager to try as many as possible."
