The Wide Receiver 2-6 Spots:

In the mix: Albert Wilson, Chris Conley, Rod Streater, DeAnthony Thomas, Mike Williams, Demarcus Robinson, Tyreek Hill, Da’Ron Brown, Kenny Cook, Mitch Matthews

Jeremy Maclin is poised to have a monster season as KC’s top wideout but after that it is wide open. If you assume the Chiefs keep six receivers on the 53-man roster that means only five of the players I listed above will make the team. I think you can make a really strong argument for Wilson, Conley, Streater, DAT, Williams, Robinson, and Hill making the team, but that’s seven guys (not including Maclin).

So not only would that mean guys like Brown, Cook, and Matthews don’t make it, but two more have to go as well. If I had to pick today I would guess Wilson, Conley, Streater, Robinson, and either DAT or Hill as the return specialist/gadget receiver make the roster. My hope is that Conley wins the number two spot out of camp and Streater works as a slot specialist. That would relegate Wilson to a reserve roll where I think he is better suited.

This is one of the most interesting and wide open spots on the roster. Author’s Note: If any of you mention Frankie Hammond in the comments below, so help me…..
